Im very excited i came across your blog. Im always looking for ideas. one of my main issues here in highlands ranch, co is that i find it hard to get plants for my garden that bloom all summer. can you recommend any so i can keep the colors flowing all year? i currently have iris and black lace elderberry in the eastern facing back yard. but thats all. I need more color. Can you recommend any perrienals that do well with minimal care?

Good giveaway. Good web site. Like the ideas and various products.

Hi Kelly:

Thanks for asking about colorful flowers for your yard. It’s a fun challenge to make sure something’s blooming all season.

Are you familiar with Plant Select plants? I’m a big fan of these introductions because they grow well in our climate.

Also, I have a lot of plants from High Country Gardens. You might want to order one of their “gardens in a box.” These gardens come with all the plants and a layout of how to plant them.

Some of my personal long-blooming favorites:

Purple coneflower
Brown-eye Susan
Agastache varieties
Bee Balm (native, purple)

Hi Barb:

I hope you entered the contest–and I’ll keep my fingers crossed you win the spring gardening package!
