Hi, y’all–here we are at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden and the world’s largest virtual garden tour. Here’s a few sights I wanted to share with you. By the way, when you view this, be sure to turn up the heat! It’s a little warm here today.
A few interesting stats…
This garden is one of the top 10 display gardens in the US and the MSN best garden for spring bulbs.
500,00o visitors see these beautiful gardens every year,
TLC used these gardens to film 4 weddings here.
The gardens host 80,000 school kids every year.
The gardens test over 3000 different varieties over 3 years from all over the world…if they survive here, they’re declared “flame proof.”
There is a new children’s garden in the works–after 10 years of planning. It will include 16 different areas featuring on the Earth Sciences. It will be a $50 million dollar project and put the gardens on the national map.
The gardens are located on 66 acres of land on the shores of White Rock Lake.
The DeGoyler House is a home on the property. Money from developing the first oil exploration equipment helped build this beautiful home. Inside is an invitation to the luncheon where JFK was headed on November 22, 1963.
The impatiens here grow several feet tall!
The “Fall into Color” event will be starting September 18–Here’s the Pumpkin House. There will be about 40,000 pumpkins featured as part of the festival.
There’s a whole lot more to the gardens…but that’s it for now.
