The annual May WordCount Blogathon, the brainchild of Michelle Rafter, challenges bloggers across the country to post a new blog on their sites every day in May. WesternGardeners.com is up to the task with a full calendar of weekly features, special posts and contests.
The 2010 WordCount Blogathon starts today and I hope you’re looking forward to it as much as I am. Last year was the first year for the Blogathon and I was able to post a new blog on this site every single day.
In anticipation of the event, I’ve been thinking what I could do to make the 31 days of blogging interesting and fun for WesternGardeners.com readers.
I’ve created a calendar of blog posts with regular features, contests for prizes and informative posts to keep you entertained all month long.
Here’s what you can expect to see:
“Gardens around the Globe” on Mondays where I’ll share photos and write about the gardens I’ve visited in Berlin, Munich, Salzburg and Barcelona.
“Plant People” will be a Tuesday feature and I’ll write about some of the people I’ve been fortunate to meet who have intriguing plant stories to tell.
“Workshop Wednesday” will focus on a topic from one of the conferences or symposiums I’ve recently attended. I’ve gained so much good information from nationally-known guest speakers that I’d like to share some of it with you.
“Name that Plant Thursday” will be the weekly contest to identify a plant by picture and description to be eligible to win a prize. Winners names will be drawn at random based on correct entries.
Then Fridays through Sundays, I’ll include gardening book and product reviews, special gardens to visit and new plants you might want to add to your garden.
I hope you’ll plan to drop by often to make sure I’m meeting the challenge of blogging about gardening every single day in May.
