Hobbit House Garden Filled with Whimsy

Of all the gardens on the Dallas Garden Writers Symposium tour, the Hobbit House was my favorite. This garden was inspired by a love for whimsy. It was designed for children, but adults love it, too. Landscape architect Rosa Findsley is the hand behind this fanciful garden, but it all started with the owner’s powerful imagination.

A winding path takes visitors through a dark forest where there are surprises behind every turn. A walk across drawbridge leads to a magical fountain…think The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The owner told me, “Everyone needs a little magic in their life.”

I absolutely loved this post. The architecture and landscaping fit the theme perfectly. I so wish I could see it in person. Thanks for the photo.

Hi Donna,

Thanks for stopping by the Hobbit House–I wish you could see it, too. We visited first thing in the morning which added to the garden’s magical touch. It really felt like I was transported to the Shire in Middle-earth for a brief moment in time.
