Gardeners Need a Tulip Library Card

The National Park Service has a fabulous Tulip Library in downtown Washington, D.C., near Independence Avenue. So while my expedition to see the famous cherry trees was fruitless,  I was delighted to find tulips greeting me instead.

I loved how the beds were arranged in a pattern that led my eye through the open space. Most tulips were planted in beds by color and variety.

This bed of multi-colored tulips was one of my favorites. It looked like a garden of jelly beans just waiting to be picked.

It was a warm windy day, but that gave the garden motion and the tulips seemed to come alive.

I really liked the shade of pink flaunted by the tulips in this bed. While I was there I kept thinking what a shame it was that gardeners can’t check out flowers from the Tulip Library.
